Michael Jackson
I can't possibly be the only person on the planet who is sick to death of the coverage of the death of Michael Jackson & more-or-less indifferent to that death? Perhaps we could call it "Princess Di(e) Syndrome"? How empty are the lives of those weeping in the street and leaving flowers in vaguely relevant places?
Let's face it, Jacko was definitely a has-been, not having made a record for 8 years, and a decent one for 20 years, likely a paedophile, despite having escaped prosecution twice, and most certainly madder than a box of frogs; addicted to surgery and painkillers, apparently determined to turn himself into Gollum. There appears to be no part of his life untainted by his bizarre "lifestyle"; his inability to deal with money, despite having more of it than most of us will see in a lifetime, his tenuous grasp on concepts such as "truth", the fact that the only thing you could rely on him for was to let you down.
OK, he made some good tunes, but that's all he was; an entertainer, a strolling mummer. Not someone worthy of world-wide gnashing and wailing. Did he solve world hunger? Bring peace in the Middle East? No. He entertained a few people who couldn't be bothered to read a book.
Save your energy for someone worthy of the effort, people.

Thank you for a little sanity
Well written. The fact that a 50 year old man would abuse drugs to death, leaving behind three small children who would not be here were it not for his paying huge sums for their birth, certainly negates anything he may have accomplished in his lifetime. An incredibly selfish act in my opinion.
